The Life of Pablo Bolanos
The family I grew up in was very strict and competitive. My parents always pushed my older sisters and I to do our best in school and in sports. This push from my parents helped me gain the quality of never giving up on anything in life. My parents always told me that once you start something finish it, they never wanted me to give up on anything. I have applied this motivation of never giving up in situations I have faced in my life, one of those situations being basketball.
My Freshmen year I played basketball and made the Freshmen team. I knew I was ready for the season because I practiced and worked on my game, but the Freshmen coach did not start me the first game of the season. I was upset knowing that I wasn’t going to start the first game of the season and I didn’t want to play, but I knew I had to finish what I started. So when the first game came I didn’t start and our team was losing in the first quarter. I was on the bench during the first quarter waiting to go in and when I went in I controlled the tempo and played the game as it should be played. The coach kept me in a majority of the game and our team took the lead, which lead to a victory in the end. My performance attracted the varsity head coach and the next game varsity had they moved me up to play with the varsity team. I stayed on the team the whole season and received my varsity letter my Freshmen year.
This was a huge accomplishment that I never thought would happen, but it all started by not giving up. Today I keep on applying my quality of never giving up, by continuously working hard to futher my education. In order to do so I have been striving to complete all of my college and scholarship applications in future hopes of attending college to receive a degree. I have based my life on never giving up, which I plan to implement while in college and in my future.

The Life of Pablo Bolanos pt 2
Born in a small community called Lindsay, CA that is surrounded by orange trees and farm plantations, there is little opportunity for students to attend a four year university. The students that finish high school go straight to work and that isn’t a bad path, but that is not what I want to do after high school. I myself want to pursue my education after high school by following my parents wishes to attend college.
My parents have always insisted that college was the right path for my sisters and I. I am lucky to have parents that push me because a lot of students do not have parents like mine. Both of my parents raised my two sisters and I to achieve our goals and knew we were capable of continuing our education after high school. They also knew I was capable of attending a university because both my sisters attended a four year university. Being the youngest in my family and the last of my two sisters to attend college puts a lot of pressure on me to accomplish what they have. Although, I was able to understand what it takes to succeed in college by witnessing my sisters attend and graduate from a four year university. My whole family motivated me to do my best throughout high school because they all knew what I was able to accomplish and achieve. Support plays a big part in a student’s life without it you could do very little in life. A majority of students from my high school did not get support from their family and that is one reason why students are not motivated to pursue their education. So I am thankful for my families support throughout high school, but I also found my high school played a major role in preparing me for college.
At Lindsay High School students work on a performance base system which motivates students to take responsibility in getting their work done and succeeding in school. In life we are going to face many responsibilities, and it might be helpful to start learning how to take on responsibilities in high school. This system has already taught me to be more of a responsible student and has increased my motivation to never give up on anything. For instance, in high school I have faced struggles at times such as not passing an Algebra class, but I pushed forward to complete the course and was able to advance to Geometry. I feel high school has prepared me to achieve my goals if I work hard and never give up, which is quality I plan to carry while attending college.
In my life I have been able to better my education by receiving various amounts of support from my family and high school. I hope to make my supporters proud by accepting a new challenge in my life and succeeding with a future college degree.
